Contributor Charter & Moderation Rules
Public rules, applied equally to everyone — including us.
How contributions work
- Anyone with an account can propose an edit on any public game record (name, year, publisher, developer, genre, franchise, synopsis, region) or upload a media file (box art, wheel, marquee, screenshot…).
- Nothing is applied instantly. A proposal waits for either a moderator decision or community convergence: when 3 different contributors independently propose the same value, it is applied automatically.
- Trusted contributors (10+ approved proposals, less than 10% rejected) see their proposals applied immediately. Trust is earned automatically and can be revoked by moderators.
- Every change is audited. Each applied edit records who, when, the previous value, and the source. Any edit can be reverted by moderators.
Media rules
- Uploads only — no hotlinks to third-party sites. Files are deduplicated and stored on our infrastructure.
- The media type must belong to the public taxonomy.
- Declare your source ("personal scan", "own photo", "own capture"…). Media ripped from other databases will be rejected and repeat offenses will cost your trusted status.
What gets rejected
- Vandalism, spam, or joke edits — immediate rejection, counted against your account.
- Data copied verbatim from sources that do not allow redistribution (see licensing).
- Content unrelated to the game record (advertising, personal information, etc.).
Moderation
- Moderators review pending proposals, approve or reject with a reason. Rejection reasons are visible to the contributor.
- Disagreement with a decision? Reply through your proposal history or contact contact@ixelia.fr — decisions are re-examined on request.
- Takedown requests from rights holders are honored — see /legal.
The deal
Your contributions become part of an openly redistributable database (see licensing) — free for everyone, forever. That is the point: no paywalled data, no quota on knowledge. Only infrastructure access (high-volume API) may ever be paid. Live coverage numbers are public on the stats page.
