GATO is a real-time 3D submarine simulation game in which the player acts as the commander of a US submarine in the Pacific against Japanese warships during World War II. The gameplay consists of missions in which the main instruction is to navigate the submarine to detect and intercept enemy warships on the randomly generated map and approach the enemy to kill them with torpedoes. The combat itself consists of a direct view of enemy ships (via periscope) and firing torpedoes to sink the ship. Be warned that enemy ships will return fire, although the player has the surprise effect of a submerged ship. When all hell breaks loose, a revealed submarine is a evasive maneuver for the Japanese guns. The mission ends when the player has successfully eliminated all targets on the map.
