GFL Championship Football was an early adopter of the first-person perspective in team sports games. You see through the eyes of the current player – from quarterback to receiver to kicker. Passing and catching are done by aiming with on-screen hands and rotating controls to select direction. There are 28 fictional teams across four divisions, each rated in 8 skill categories. Team and play selections use diagonal movement. With classic Gridiron rules and immersive gameplay, it stands apart from the Xs-and-Os style common at the time.
