Gandalf the Sorcerer is a fixed-screen shooter where you defend your castle as Gandalf against lizardmen invading from the woods. Using a crosshair, you burn them with limited firepower. Defeated foes drop coins, but if they reach the door, they'll try to break in while your apprentice stirs a cauldron. If captured, the apprentice is taken outside, triggering an isometric view where you must chase the kidnapper, defeat him, and escort the apprentice back. Fire can be replenished by climbing the tower. Taking a hit means game over, and losing three apprentices ends your quest.
