Ghouls'n Ghosts continues the story three years after Arthur's victory over Astaroth. Returning from a journey, he witnesses Princess Prin-Prin's castle under siege by the new Demon King Lucifer's forces. Struck down by Lucifer's beam, the Princess loses her life, and Arthur must now venture deep into the demon's realm to rescue her soul. His quest takes him through haunted graveyards, swamps, skeletal towers, and finally into Lucifer's fortress. Armed with a sword and additional weapons found in hidden armor chests, Arthur fights across five treacherous stages filled with pits, ladders, lava, and relentless monsters – and even without armor, he won't stop until he brings Prin-Prin back to life.
