Golden Axe lets you choose from three heroes, each seeking revenge against the tyrant Death Adder. Dwarf Gilius Thunderhead wields his battle axe to avenge his brother, barbarian Ax Battler fights with a broadsword against the killers of his mother, and amazon Tyris Flare uses her longsword after her parents were slain. Together they battle through Adder's forces, cutting down hordes of enemies while unleashing powerful magic that, depending on energy collected, can clear the entire screen of foes.
