"Heavy Metal: Modern Land Combat Vol. I" is an action-packed shooter where the player controls a tank through four hostile areas. As the screen automatically scrolls upward, the tank can move freely and engage enemy units. A radar on the left side helps track the tank's position and detect incoming enemies. Power-ups can be collected along the way, including a shield for extra protection, a super shot for stronger attacks, a super missile with high impact, and a speed boost for increased maneuverability. While the tank has multiple lives, a single direct hit results in an instant loss of one.
