In Mean Streets you take on the role of private investigator Tex Murphy, who is hired to solve the murder of a university professor. Soon it becomes clear that the case is connected to a secret research project involving several scientists working on technology capable of controlling people remotely. During your investigation you question numerous suspects, gather clues, and sometimes use bribes to obtain valuable information. Some situations can lead to confrontations, but a diplomatic approach is often more effective. Between investigative leads you travel through the city in a futuristic vehicle, with these journeys presented as flight-style sequences.
