In Mega Hawk, you control a spaceship as enemies approach from the background. Your mission is to find a new universe, which you achieve by flying through and fighting your way across various levels. These include flying through tunnels, deep space, and over the surface of a planet. Along the way, you encounter various creatures and enemies that you can either avoid or shoot down. If you're hit, you lose one of your three lives. Each level has a decreasing timer bar, and a level is considered completed if you survive until the timer runs out.
