Ninja Massacre is a Gauntlet clone for 1 or 2 players. As a ninja, you have to move through a maze to collect treasures and power-ups and kill all the bad guys. There are 50 levels that are completed with a password, so you don't have to start again from level one. In 2 player mode, you and the other player play at the same time. The game is seen from above, but the ninjas and villains are seen from the side. A small portion of the maze is displayed at a time, scrolling as you move. The joystick moves your ninja while the fire button launches your ninja stars. The keyboard can also be used.
