In Peter Pack Rat you control a junkyard rat who enjoys collecting objects around his home. Your goal is to gather a certain number of items scattered across the yard and bring them back to Peter's hideout to complete the level. The game is viewed from the side as you move across platforms, climb ladders and travel through pipes to reach new areas. Along the way you collect various objects such as keys and other items, and you can even swim across water sections. Enemies roam and fly around the area trying to hurt Peter, but you can avoid them or shoot them to stun them for a short time.
