Tangent is a side-scrolling shooter where you pilot a spaceship through futuristic stages, destroying a set number of enemies to progress. A radar shows enemy positions, and managing your ship's speed and direction is key to avoiding collisions. Enemy fire or crashes reduce your energy. At the end of each stage, a large mothership offers bonus points if destroyed – failure means forced progression without reward. As levels advance, enemies become faster, more numerous and better armed.
