"World Series Baseball" is a baseball simulation where one or two players can compete in matches lasting 3, 6, or 9 innings. There are three difficulty levels for the computer opponent. The game faithfully follows official baseball rules, which are explained in introductory screens. It focuses on action-packed gameplay without complex statistics. The field is displayed in a forced perspective, with a small window showing the pitcher's delivery. During fielding, the player nearest to the ball is controlled automatically, and points are only completed once the ball is returned to the pitcher unless it's a home run. Features include stealing bases, pitching curve balls, and customizing team colors. Animated cheerleaders and advertising banners add extra flair between innings.
