Digimon 02 4 is a variant of Digimon 2, where the playable character is changed from Agumon to Davis from Digimon Adventure 02. Davis, oddly, throws fireballs as a secondary attack. The game features a different level order, and the item that evolved Agumon into Greymon in the original game works differently here. The intro and title screen have been altered, showing stills from the anime and a different story sequence, while the song "Butterfly" from Digimon 2 is reused. Otherwise, the gameplay remains similar to the original Digimon 2.
