The story follows a normal high school student named Ben Parker (not Peter) who evidently was not shot and killed. He gains superhuman abilities such as walking on the wall and ceiling, giving of cobwebs, etc after being bitten by a radiant spider. He adopts the masked persona "Spider-Man" and begins to fight crime in New York City, facing the malevolent Green Goblin in the process.
