Makoto was born in Kazune where he and his sister, Hinata, grew up with Minamo. After the death of his father, he, his sister and the Minamo family moved. When his family moves for the 2nd time, he gives a harmonica to Minamo and the 2 swear to meet again one day and to get married. The game begins 10 years later. Makoto and Hinata return to Kazune where Makoto finds Minamo. He learns that many people in the town have unique special powers. Hinata, for example, can jump higher than most 2-story buildings. Minamo can control the wind, Nozomi can create shockwaves with sharp weapons, and Wakaba can heal wounds and slow down illnesses. The city is also home to a long string of murders and mysterious disappearances. Professor Akihito, Minamo's father, studies the mysteries of the city in an attempt to figure out what caused these powers to develop.
