SimCopter (1996), the first game to use the Simlish language, had the particularity of allowing users to import their cities created in SimCity 2000 (1993) and fly over them freely or carry out various rescue missions, helping police, firefighters or ambulance drivers, etc. These elements might have made the game unsuitable for a Nintendo 64 port, but the Maxis studio had started working on one, developing it in-house. A first version was presented at E3 in June 1997 and this prototype, of which so far only a very poor quality video remained, was unearthed in 2022.
