The game is set in the distant future. Earth is a distant memory, having been destroyed long ago. The small human population is concentrated in a small part of the galaxy, called "The Triangle" because of its shape, and threatened by its neighbours: the Alpha Frontier is infested with pirates, recently united around a certain "Blackbeard"; the Beta Frontier is frequently ambushed by an intelligent insect-like alien race thought to be planning all-out war. The third frontier leads to a largely unknown territory inhabited by space robots whose origins are unclear. Humanity's only hope is Star Command, the military headquarters. You control the crew of a spaceship and try to ensure peace by carrying out the missions entrusted to you by Star Command.
