Chinese checkers is neither a variant of draughts nor does it originate in China. It was originally invented in Germany as "Star Halma" and dubbed "Chinese Checkers" as part of a US marketing campaign. The goal is to be the first to get all of your pieces across the hexagram-shaped board to "home" - the corner of the star opposite the starting corner - using single-step moves or moves that skip over other pieces.
