In this game, the player takes control of a captured prisoner held in a Nazi-occupied castle. Escaping the cell and finding a weapon is just the beginning; the ultimate goal is to obtain the Nazi war plans and escape Castle Wolfenstein alive. Castle Wolfenstein is one of the earliest games to feature stealth mechanics. The player navigates the rooms and hallways of the castle, evading guards along the way. Although guards can be shot, ammunition is scarce, so moving undetected is preferred. Guards can be searched and treasure chests can be opened for useful items.
