Black Belt is a 1-player vs. computer or 2-player Taekwon-Do sparring simulator. The game closely follows official Taekwon-Do sparring rules. Matches feature adjustable computer opponents with varying speed, fatigue, form, and intelligence. Move availability is tied to skill level/belt rank—higher ranks unlock more advanced techniques. Players can perform 9 different kicks, 3 punches, blocks, and move in 4 directions. A roster of multiple characters is available. As players defeat tougher opponents, they advance to higher belt ranks. Points are awarded for successful attacks and blocks. Warnings are issued for leaving the mat, turning your back on the opponent, illegal blows, or stalling. Every two warnings deduct a point; 6 warnings result in disqualification. Fighters can be knocked down and must rise within 10 seconds or lose the match. The player with the most points at the end wins.
