Grey Seas, Grey Skies is a text-based naval combat simulation for one or two players, with an optional computer opponent. Players command fleets in historical and hypothetical conflicts across regions including the Baltic, Norwegian, Mediterranean, Indian Ocean, Western Pacific, Falklands, and Kuril Islands, or create custom scenarios. Using radar, visual sightings, sonar, and helicopter reconnaissance, players search for enemy ships and submarines while directing each vessel's movement, speed, and attacks. Ships carry limited weapons with varying ranges and effectiveness, and changing weather conditions can affect operations. The game uses a physical board and counters to track unit positions. Orders are issued each turn, then resolved simultaneously, with detailed combat reports provided afterward. Battles can end after a set number of turns or when one side's forces are destroyed, with players receiving a final score based on mission success.
