Horse Racing Classic is a thoroughbred horse racing simulation, tutorial, and party game for the Apple II. Using detailed racing-form data, each horse's performance is influenced by real statistics such as past results, odds, weight carried, fastest times, and jockey and trainer ratings, creating a realistic racing experience. Players can study the form, place win, place, show, or across-the-board wagers, and learn betting strategies through the included odds and payout explanations. Up to nine players compete, each starting with $100 and attempting to finish with the largest bankroll. Between four and nine races are run on each daily card, with seven horses per race. Players may rename any of the 100 horses for added fun, while a Handicapper Hall of Fame records the highest winning totals. Combining authentic racing strategy with competitive wagering, Horse Racing Classic is both an educational simulation and an entertaining multiplayer party game.
