Race for Midnight is a graphical text adventure set in 14th-century Europe. After waking with a mysterious wound and learning a werewolf was seen near your village, you realize you may be cursed yourself. Rumors tell of a cure hidden in the dungeon of the wizard Evro, so you set out to find it before the next full-moon transformation. When the ground collapses beneath you, you become trapped in the dungeon's depths. With only 500 turns until midnight, you must locate the potion and escape or remain a werewolf forever. Gameplay uses a VERB-NOUN parser and allows players to switch between graphical and text displays. Exploration involves collecting items, solving puzzles, and battling dungeon creatures. Combat is determined by dice rolls: the player attacks first and may defeat an enemy with a high roll, while successful enemy rolls inflict damage. The hero can survive only three hits before the adventure ends.
