Seventh Fleet
Publisher: Simulations Canada · Developer: W.J. Nichols
Seventh Fleet is a strategic naval wargame simulating a hypothetical 1996 conflict between U.S. and Soviet forces in the Pacific. Playable by one or two players, each side commands fleets, aircraft, and submarines, with a computer opponent available for solo play. Acting as a theater commander, the player organizes ships into task forces, assigns missions, directs movement, and reacts to intelligence reports. The text-only game advances in half-day turns starting on June 1, 1996. Players can split or combine task forces, monitor unit status, assign missions, anti-submarine operations, shore bombardment, or shadowing enemy fleets, and coordinate air and submarine support. Intelligence reports reveal enemy activity and allow attacks against detected targets. As combat intensifies, the conflict may escalate into global nuclear war, ending the game immediately. Otherwise, the war concludes with a ceasefire, and both sides are scored on their overall command performance.
