Short Circuit
Publisher: Micro Fun · Developer: Micro Fun
Short Circuit is an arcade-puzzle game in which the ZX88B device has accidentally activated and is about to detonate twenty doomsday bombs around the world. Since the machine cannot be shut down or destroyed, the player shrinks to electron size and enters the device to disable it from within. The machine contains twelve microchips, each representing a level. Each level consists of a circuit with three batteries. By touching batteries and collecting microsparks, the player transfers power between them, attempting to raise a battery's charge above 999 volts. Once overloaded, the circuit becomes vulnerable, and reaching the battery destroys the microchip. Players move along circuit traces while avoiding neutrons, double neutrons, and photons, which drain battery power and raise the alarm. Too many hits, drained batteries, or running out of time triggers a detonation pulse. Three pulses end the game. After each level, a bonus lightning run allows players to score even more points.
