„The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai“ places the player in the role of Dr. Banzai, a brilliant neurosurgeon, physicist, and nemesis of the infamous Hanoi Xan. However, instead of utilizing his many talents, the goal is to disable a planet-destroying bomb set by the Black Lectroids from Planet 10. Unlike the movie, the Red Lectroids from the 8th Dimension, Team Banzai, and the Blue Blaze Irregulars play no role. Instead, the player roams an eerily deserted town to collect gasoline, sand, bauxite, and a special catalyst needed to power up the oscillation overthruster-equipped jet car and transmit the bomb's cancellation codes. The game is controlled via a simple VERB-NOUN text parser.
