„Ameriganos“ begins with the kidnapping of Sir Fred by pirates in the Caribbean, who demand a ransom of 10,000 guilders. The player must raise this amount and deliver the money to the pirates. In „Ameriganos ein Adventure Teil II“, the story continues as the player travels by ship to the Caribbean, is dropped off on an island, and must locate the pirates' base to hand over the money. Various commands allow for taking items, using them, and exploring the surroundings.
