Beauty and the Beast

Commodore 64 · 1996 · WOR

Also known as: Beauty and the Beast (Preview)

Publisher: System 3 Software · Developer: Maham Samanpajouh

Beauty and the Beast is an unusual C64 curiosity that strongly recalls familiar isometric action adventures while reshaping them into its own version with a beast character, enemies, and slightly altered locations. Behind the game lies the enthusiasm of young developers who tried to create something of their own with limited means and plenty of improvisation. Even though much of it clearly feels assembled from other sources, the project remains a fascinating time capsule full of passion and unfinished potential. That mix of fan project, experiment, and preserved fragment is what makes Beauty and the Beast especially interesting today.
