In Book of the Dead you play as Kteth, a falcon-headed godling from Egyptian mythology, cast out of the divine realm after the great battle between Set and Horus. Now mortal and cursed with a deadly disease, your quest is to recover the lost Book of the Dead — an ancient manuscript that details how souls can journey back to the afterlife. Its fragments lie hidden on tomb walls, within sacred tomes, and in the minds of priests and spirits. Along the way, you must seek aid from other gods, overcome trials, and purify your soul to reclaim your divine nature before the curse consumes you.
