It's the 1980s and the Cold War between the Western Bloc (led by the USA) and the Eastern Bloc (led by the Soviet Union) is at its peak. The town of Ostnitz lies on the border between the fictitious Eastern Bloc state Frobnia and the also fictitious neutral Litzenburg. The US ambassador will soon arrive in Ostnitz to give a speech on the occasion of Constitution Day there. But a plot to assassinate the ambassador is soon uncovered, which would increase tensions between the superpowers. Border Zone is a text adventure game in which the player controls three different protagonists in three chapters: an American businessman and two special agents - one Western and one Eastern. In addition to traditional text-based exploration and puzzle solving, the game has real-time elements: time passes even when the player is not interacting with the game.
