Cheap Skate puts you in the role of the new kid in town, whose skateboarding skills have caught the attention of a local gang. To join the Street Hawks, you must complete a series of tests that challenge your agility. Viewed from an isometric perspective with a constantly scrolling screen, you ride through the streets while dodging obstacles like manholes, signs, boxes, fireballs, and even rival skaters. Some poles require you to duck at just the right moment. Each trial is timed, and you must reach the finish line before the clock runs out. Crashes or timeouts cost one of your three lives, while you also manage your speed through a speed meter.
