"Discs of Daedalus" tells the story of a rescue mission in which Earth's best biophysicists, who have developed a groundbreaking anti-gravity substance, are kidnapped by an alien race called the Jershans. The Jershans, who are intent on weapons design, force the scientists to work in their laboratories on various planets. A direct rescue operation is prevented by an early warning system, but Earth's elite rescue forces have a plan: They use the scientists' invention by dropping the anti-gravity disks - called "Discs of Daedalus" - onto the planet's surfaces, allowing the scientists to float towards the rescue ships and return to freedom.
