In English Civil War, you command either Royalist or Parliamentarian forces in a tactical battle for 17th-century supremacy. The goal is to capture the enemy's fort through turn-based play involving movement, ranged fire and melee combat. Units include musketeers, pikemen, cavalry and artillery, each with distinct roles. Terrain affects movement and visibility, and flanking brings key advantages. Losses are visually shown as soldiers vanish, and missed shots may hit allies. Despite its simple look, the game offers surprisingly deep strategy.
