Firing Line has you move a spacecraft left and right along a horizontal line across the centre of the screen. From there, you fire both upward and downward at approaching alien ships and space debris. The movement speed can be adjusted, but if an enemy or object reaches the line, a life is lost. An extra ship is awarded for every 10,000 points.
