“Mega Phoenix” brings the concept of the classic arcade game “Phoenix” into the 90s and was later even adapted into a coin-op version by Gaelco. The game is a single-screen shoot 'em up where the player moves left and right while shooting at enemy waves. A shield function is available for a short duration but requires a recharge period and immobilizes the craft while active. The first waves consist of small alien creatures flying in formation, randomly diving towards the player – contact with them results in a lost life. Next, deadly phoenixes fire at the player, followed by the Mega Phoenix itself and finally a boss fight. The game then restarts with increased difficulty.
