Schnapsen is a card game of the Bézique family for two players, where the goal is to quickly reach 66 points through tricks and announcements. It is played with a deck of 20 cards, with the trump suit determined by an uncovered card. Initially, there is neither a requirement to follow suit nor to win the trick, but once the talon is exhausted or closed, strict rules for following and trumping apply. Special announcements like a Twenty or Forty can score extra points. Strategically closing the talon allows early victory. In Schnapsen, players count down from seven points, and a complete round, called a Bummerl, is decided after several individual games.
