Stargate continues the action of Defender and once again challenges you to rescue humanoids from alien threats. Landers attempt to turn them into Mutants, while you must dodge and destroy other foes. The new feature is the Stargate itself: carrying a humanoid through it both rescues them and teleports you to the nearest endangered human. With four or more humanoids you can warp ahead during the first 15 levels, and with ten rescued you gain extra lives. This creates a constant trade-off between ensuring safety and taking risks to advance faster.
