Shao Kahn has conquered Earthrealm to revive his queen, Sindel. Using the Mortal Kombat 2 tournament as a diversion, his Shadow Priests resurrected her, opening a dimensional bridge that allowed his armies to invade, destroy the realm and enslave its population. A small group of Raiden's chosen warriors, including Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Sonya Blade, Jax, Nightwolf, Stryker, Kabal and rogue Sub-Zero, survives the attack. They face off against mercenary Kano, cyber-ninjas Smoke, Sektor, and Cyrax, the Shokan Sheeva, sorcerer Shang Tsung and Queen Sindel. Mortal Kombat 3 introduces multi-level arenas, Dial-A-Combo attacks, a Run button and unlockable Vs. codes. Players battle through new stage fatalities and finishing moves to face off against Motaro and Shao Kahn. Mortal Kombat 3 is the last traditional 1-on-1 fighting game game in the series to feature motion-captured digitized graphics for its kombatants and introduces online network play to the PC version.
