Kyosuke Kosaka, a 17-year-old high school student in Chiba, has always maintained a cold and distant relationship with his 14-year-old sister, Kirino, who treats him with disdain. One day, he accidentally discovers in their home's entryway a DVD case of a magical girl anime (a genre where young girls gain magical powers) that secretly contains an eroge (an erotic video game or visual novel) belonging to Kirino. That night, she confides in him: she is an otaku (a devoted fan of Japanese pop culture) who secretly collects moe anime (stories featuring cute, endearing characters) and eroge focused on the “little sister” theme. Kyosuke becomes her confidant, helping her balance everyday life with her hidden hobbies. The story follows their attempt to mend their fractured bond, confront social judgment, and accept their true feelings, while humorously exploring the challenges of the otaku (Japanese geek culture fan) world.
