Final Fantasy VI on Virtual Console marks a turning point in the Final Fantasy saga with its somber and more tragic side than in the previous entries. A thousand years after a terrible war, magic has almost entirely disappeared in favor of Magitek technology which gives the Empire full power over the World. The Returners, a group of rebels led by the hero Locke, attempt to stand up to the might of the Empire.
