MiniSquadron is a side scrolling shooter where the player takes control of a tiny little plane in dogfights against wave after wave of other similar little planes. Gameplay is similar to games like Sopwith and Triplane Turmoil. The player can move freely around in all directions and do various aerobatic manoeuvres such as loops, turns and rolls. In addition to shooting at the enemy planes the player also has avoid crashing. Fly to high and the plane begins to stall and to avoid crashing into the ground the player needs to turn around the nose and dive to regain control. The player can pick up various power ups that fall from the sky.
