Unlike the first installment in Barbanegra's Zelda series, which continued the story of the original game, this episode features its own original narrative. However, Link does not take part in this adventure, being replaced by the Barbanegra System's avatar, the Hero of Light (or Heroine, depending on the player's chosen gender), who is presumed to come from another world within Hyrule. After receiving a vision from Princess Zelda, the hero is summoned to collect eight stone tablets (two per week) in order to save Hyrule from a great danger. In the final week, that threat is revealed to be none other than Ganon. At the end of the game, the hero places Excalibur back in its pedestal and returns to their own world.
