A historical simulation set during the Bakumatsu period, featuring Ryoma Sakamoto, a historical political figure from Japan. The player chooses from over 500 available characters, ranging from the famous Sakamoto to ordinary merchants and scholars. The ultimate aim of the game is to unify the ideology of the Japanese people and bring about the Meiji Restoration. The game mainly involves meeting villagers in the numerous villages to convince them to join your cause, seeking out those likely to be sympathetic to it. This is done via a menu-based conversation mini-game, in which the player must choose their words and approach carefully to align the other character's sentiments with their own.
