Wrestle Angels Special follows the same gameplay model as its predecessors in the series. However, unlike previous games, the player creates two female wrestlers. After naming them, the player is taken to a character screen that allows them to choose the wrestling moves they will use in the upcoming bouts. Then the tournament begins. As before, wrestling matches are turn-based, with both sides choosing one of several moves available. It is also possible to set matches to automatic mode, allowing the AI to choose the moves, in case the player is sure that the best moves have been allocated before the match. There is also an exhibition mode, which allows the player to choose any wrestler and have a match against any other.
