The game's heroes arrive naked through a magical well in a frozen city. The group attempt to save the besieged city and fight to discover the secret of the Silver Blades... The gameplay is very similar to that of the previous games. The player must create a group of characters. Exploration takes place in pseudo-3D environments, in first-person view. Battles involve the player-controlled group and the enemy group on a top-down battle screen. Commands are given on a turn-by-turn basis and player-controlled characters can navigate the battlefield freely. Unlike previous games, there is no world map travel. All exploration takes place in the 3D world.
