Last Ninja 2: Back with a Vengeance throws Armakuni from the medieval Far East into modern-day New York to face his archenemy Kunitoki, who escaped through time and built a new reign of terror. The journey to their final showdown leads through carefully crafted environments like parks, streets, and grim drug labs, with the gameplay peppered with tongue-in-cheek humor and pop culture references. You'll be pelted by flower pots from annoyed bystanders, face an urban legend crocodile in the sewers, and even spot Superman flying past an office window. Thematically, it strongly echoes the wave of urban ninja films that flooded the video market at the time, especially those from B-movie director Joseph Lai and actor Shô Kosugi.
